HAZWOPER Hazardous Waste Operations & emergency Response Standards Joseph Johnson to be determined Mon - Fri 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Hale Kuhina 115 $285 Internal; $450 External Kathleen Zane, 844-2317 or 206-5273 The Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) applies to any employee who is exposed or potentially exposed to hazardous substances --- including hazardous waste -- and who are engaged in one of the following operations as specified by 1910.120(a)(1)(i-v) and 1926.65(a)(1)(i-v): corrective actions involving clean-up operations at sites covered by the Resource Conservation and recovery Act of 1976 (RCRA); voluntary clean-up operations at sites recognized by a governmental body as uncontrolled hazardous waste sites; operations involving hazardous wastes that are conducted at treatment, storage, and disposal facilities; emergency response operations for releases of, or substantial threats of releases of, hazardous substances.  Call 808-235-7367 to find out more about this training opportunity and/or check www.etc.hawaii.edu for updates.  Course fee of $285 for those who complete UXO Tech I training course.
Unexploded Ordnance Technician I Training Course Joseph Johnson to be determined Mon - Fri 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Hale Kuhina 115 $4,750 Kathleen Zane, 844-2317 or 206-5273 You will participate in classroom and supervised practical training in the operation of detection equipment, location and identification of munitions by category and group, firing system design and construction (both electric and nonelectric); and design, construct, and detonate a demolition explosive as required by the Department of Defense Explosive Safety Board (DDESB) in DDESB Technical Paper 18 (TP-18).  Unexploded Ordnance Technician I is a new career in Hawaii. A UXO technician identifies and classifies military munitions such as bombs, guided missiles, military explosives and demolition materials. Prerequisites for UXO Technician I are: successful completion of this course and 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training course, HAZWOPER physical examination, drug test, background check, criminal record check, and minimum of 21 years of age.  Call 808-235-7367 to find out more about this training opportunity.
